The People Are Too Big To Fail!

Tom Morello Interview Rage Against the Machine guitarist and political activist Tom Morello is just one of the celebrities who has recently showed up in Lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park to offer his support for the Occupy Wall Street movement. After performing for protesters this afternoon, Morello answered some questions with RT's Lucy Kafanov about Barack Obama, the state of America, bailouts, banks, and the Occupy movement. Morello recently released the record World Wide Rebel Songs on behalf of his The Nightwatchman project.

Tom Morello on the Role of Music and Culture in the Occupy Wall Street Movement Keith Olbermann and Tom Morello, political activist and Rage Against the Machine member, discuss Morello’s visit to Occupy Wall Street today and his previous experience at Occupy LA and talk about the Time Magazine poll that shows 54% of people support Occupy. Noting that protesters keep asking him to return to perform, Morello explains that “every successful, progressive, radical or revolutionary movement that this country has ever seen has had a great sound track, and so it’s very important that music and culture be a part of it.”

About Occupy Wall Street NYC General Assemblies are an open, participatory and horizontally organized process through which we are building the capacity to constitute ourselves in public as autonomous collective forces within and against the constant crises of our times. NYC General Assembly is the official website of the GA of #OccupyWallStreet.

About Occupy Wall Street (Wikipedia) Occupy Wall Street is an ongoing series of demonstrations in New York City based in Zuccotti Park, formerly "Liberty Plaza Park". The protest was originally called for by the Canadian activist group Adbusters. The action has been compared to the Arab Spring movement (particularly the Tahrir Square protests in Cairo, which initiated the 2011 Egyptian revolution) and the Spanish Indignants. The participants of the event, who have called themselves the "99 percenters", are mainly protesting against social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and the influence of corporate money and lobbyists on government. Adbusters states that, "Beginning from one simple demand - a presidential commission to separate money from politics - we start setting the agenda for a new America." The protest's organizers hope that the protesters themselves will formulate their own specific demands, expecting them to be focused on "... taking to task the people who perpetrated the economic meltdown."

About OccupyWallStreet.org OccupyWallSt.org is the unofficial de facto online resource for the ongoing protests happening on Wall Street. We are an affinity group committed to doing technical support work for resistance movements. We are not affiliated with Adbusters, anonymous or any other organization. The leaders of this movement are the everyday people participating in the occupation. We use a tool called the "General Assembly" to facilitate open, participatory and horizontal organizing between members of the public. We welcome people from all colors, genders and beliefs to participate in our daily assemblies. Visit the NYC General Assembly website to learn how you can become involved, read updates/minutes, or find out how you can adopt NYCGA processes to organize your own community.
